Issue Position

Thanks to the many constituents who helped me get elected, it has been my honor to serve as your representative the past two years. Together, we have been able to increase state aid to education, restore some of the funds to long-term care providers and bring transparency to our state economic development efforts.

As your representative, I sponsored legislation that will help our military veterans move into civilian jobs by giving credit for knowledge gained while serving our country and protecting our freedom. I was also pleased to be involved with efforts to protect our law officers from being penalized if they have a traffic accident while serving in the line of duty.

While I am proud of these accomplishments of your behalf, we still have much work to do. We still have 48,000 citizens who lack healthcare coverage, our teachers are still among the lowest paid in the entire country, we still have the highest percentage of employees earning minimum wage, and we still have the most two-worker family incomes. In short, we can do better.

Please help me make South Dakota the home all our neighbors deserve: a place where citizens can attain economic independence, families can obtain quality healthcare and education, and a better quality of life is accessible to all. That starts by putting a stop to the partisan politics being played in Pierre.
